It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of our Nanaimo Big Wheel location. After four years of serving the Nanaimo community with delicious burgers and warm hospitality, we have made the decision to close our doors.
The Nanaimo location was our first venture outside of Greater Victoria and our goal was to start to share our food and our values with a new community. The support of our customers has not gone unnoticed and we will miss having folks from Nanaimo and surrounding towns dine with us on a regular basis. Your feedback, encouragement, and loyalty have fueled us through the adventure of opening a location in a new city. We will always be grateful to our patrons at the Nanaimo location and hope to see you in Victoria or Courtenay soon.
The decision to close our doors in Nanaimo was not made lightly. Due to various factors, including the cost of operation, we had to come to this difficult decision. We do ultimately believe that this is the right decision for the company of Big Wheel Burger and for our other locations to be supported during these financially uncertain times.
We want to give a huge thank you to our staff at the Nanaimo location. Our managers, front of house staff, supervisors, and back of house staff have been absolutely incredible and we could not have done this without you all. From day one of Big Wheel, it has been the passion and dedication of our staff that has allowed us to grow and thrive over the years.
Despite our closure, we will continue to be supporting Nanaimo charities, including Wisteria Soup Kitchen and Loaves & Fishes. The Big Wheel Community Foundation has been touched with the selflessness, hard work and love that we have seen from the charities that we have worked with in Nanaimo. Although our restaurant will no longer be there, we still hope to be a part of the community in Nanaimo and want to support these amazing folks.

As this door closes, we are very excited to be launching our Courtenay store that will have its grand opening on Oct 7th, 2024. Business is never a straight line and there are always inflection points where adjustments are necessary. Big shout out to all of our amazing customers across Vancouver Island, we would not be Big Wheel Burger without your support.
